The settlement the pit boys’ dispute had a reaction Houghton Main Colliery, yesterday, when the haulage hands in three seams, the Parkgate, Beamshaw and Melton Field, refused to work and threw 2.500 men out of work.
It alleged that the old rate at Houghton Main was. in some cases, higher than the new scale. At Manvers Main Colliery the boys turned up for work, but refused to down the pit.
