Bad Weather Reduces Attendance

There was an excellent entry for all sections of the Great Houghton, near Barnsley, annual agricultural and horticultural show on Saturday, but bad weather affected the attendance.

The chief prize winners were:—

Mare or gelding,— 1, a. Morrell, Wombwell; 2, P. Chapman, North Elmsall.

Brood Mare – 1 Morrell; 2, J. Appleyard, Billingsley.

Vanner. —1, K. Weldon. Wertworth; 2, W. R. Clarke. Thurnscoe: 3, Metcalfe Bros., Grimethorpe.

Yearling.—1, Clarke; 2, Weldon. Foal (Shire). —1. Morrell; 2, Appleyard; 3, W. Palfreyman, Wath.

Foal (Clydesdale).—l, Morrell; 2. Appleyard.

Foal sired by “Ever True.”—l Metcalfe Bros.: 2, T. Hellewell. Billingley.

Heifer.—l. Appleyard.

Heifer (with sucking teeth). —1. Metcalfe Bros.; 2, C. Coward, Low Valley.

Cow or heifer, in calf.—l, C. Coward: 2, A. Moate. Great Houghton.

Allotments.—Tabor Cup, Mr. W Nicholson.

The Diggle Cup for best foal in show, A. Morrell.
