Ran Away With A Baby.

Excitement was caused on Friday afternoon by the entry into the village at a good speed of a pony and trap owned by Mr Thomas Butcher, of High Street, the only occupant been an infant of two years, the son of Mr and Mrs N Blades.

It transpired that Mrs Butcher and her niece had taken a drive with the baby, while they were shopping in Thurnscoe. The pony made a bolt for home, a distance of nearly 2 miles. Both ladies rushed out of the shop and endeavoured to climb into the trap, but were unable to do so, and sustained slight injuries in their attempts.

Luckily, the child held onto the seat and was none the worse for the experience.
