Chairman of S. Y. Coal Owners’ Association

At the annual general meeting of the South Yorkshire Coal Owners’ Association Mr. H. Danby was elected Chairman in succession to Mr. J. Brass.

Mr. Brass, who is Managing Director and Vice-Chairman of the Houghton Main Colliery Co. Ltd., Barnsley, has held the position since 1935, and had asked to be relieved of the work after nine years’ service.

Mr. Danby is and has been General Manager of Earl Fitzwilliam’s Collieries at Elsecar and Rawmarsh since 1920, and is Director of the Company.  He is a director of the allied company of Furnace Hill and Renishaw Park Collieries Ltd., and nominated by the Ministry of Fuel and Power to the board of J. and J. Charlesworth Ltd., whose collieries are at Wakefield.  He has been closely associated with the work of the South Yorkshire Coal Owners’ Association for years.
