Mexborough and District Collieries and the Hull Coal Trade
Yesterday the official return showing the quantity of coal sent from South Yorkshire to Hull was issued, and shows that whilst there was a falling off to the extent of 53,808 tons last month compared with June, 1892, there was an increase of 50,248 tons over the quantity sent in the month of May last. The exports for the month show an increase of 3,739, but there is a falling off to the extent of 119,085 tons.
On the half-year’s working Denaby again heads the list, having sent 17,904 tons last month against 11,760 tons in June, 1892, an increase of 6,144 tons. On the other hand, only 71,384 tons were sent during the half-year, compared with 93,408 tons in 1892, a falling off of 22,000 tons.
Manvers Main in June, 1892, supplied 13,144 tons against 9,256 tons last month, and of that tonnage 7,848 went by water. Kilnhurst supplied 8,888 tons last month, an increase of 3,568 tons. Thrybergh Hall 8,088 tons, an increase of 1,832 tons compared with last year.
Darfield Main had a falling off to the extent of 2,800 tons last month, Houghton Main 1,300 tons, Hoyland Silkstone 600 tons, and Mitchell’s Main 900 tons.
