Gone to India

Here is a photograph of Flying Officer Roy Bladen (24), son of Mr. and Mrs. E. Bladen of Normandale Road, Great Houghton and his wife who is a W.A.A.F.  Mrs Bladen, who is stationed in the South, where she met her husband, is now on leave spending a few days at Great Houghton with her husband’s parents.

Flying Officer Bladen recently left this country for India and news has just reached his wife that he has arrived there safely.  Flying Officer Bladen is an old boy of Barnsley Grammar School, and later proceeded to college to train for teaching.  He volunteered for the R.A.F. on leaving college, joining up at the end of 1940.  He has done all his training in England.

He was prominently associated with Great Houghton Methodist Chapel.  His wife is an L.A./cw., and is engaged as a motor driver.
