An Old Inhabitant – Mrs Annie Horsman
Great Houghton has lost by the death of Mrs Annie Horsman, 2, Church Terrace, one of its oldest residents.
Mrs Horsman was 76 years old, and was born at Little Houghton, and went to reside at Great Houghton 40 years ago, she was left a widow at an early age, and supported herself and her family. She worked at various farms in the district.
In those days self-binders were unknown and it was the lot of Mrs Horsmen to follow the reaper at harvest time to tie up.
She had been in ill health for two years and her death took place last Wednesday.
The interment was at Darfield cemetery on Saturday conducted by Mr W. B. Sharp.
