Dearne Valley Progress
Extensive Municipal Trading Projected.
The Urban District Councils of Hoyland Nether, Bolton-on-Dearne, and Darfield are promoting a Bill to acquire the undertaking of the Dearne Valley Waterworks Company, and to supply their own districts, together with the urban district Wombwell and the parishes Great Houghton, Little Houghton, Wentworth, and Brampton Bierlow.
The promotion was inspired originally the Bolton-on-Dearne Urban Council, who lead progress in the Dearne Valley.
The same authority is endeavouring to engineer a coalition of five or more urban authorities in the Dearne Valley with view to the creation of a large industrial borough. Four Dearne Valley authorities are associated in the promotion of big tramway scheme, and three of them are amalgamated in Gas Board and projected electricity undertakings.
