Golden Wedding
Darfield Couple’s Happy Anniversary
This week Mr. and Mrs. Tom D. Perrin, of Highfield, Darfield, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. They were married on Aug, 17th, 1882, at Silkstone Parish Church.
Mr. Perrin who is 76, is a native of Lincolnshire. His wife, who is 74, was born at Haxey, near Doncaster. For the last 41 years they have resided at Darfield, Mr. Perrin being employed at Houghton Main Coke Ovens, until his retirement a few years ago.
He was a pioneer of the General and Municipal Workers’ Union and is next to the oldest surviving member. They have two daughters, who reside in Barnsley, and one son, Mr. Fred Perrin of Barugh.
Mr. and Mrs. Perrin are devoted members of Darfield Wesleyan Church. To celebrate the occasion a family party was held at their home on Wednesday, and yesterday (Thursday), when many friends were entertained.
