Poker Work

Annie Jones and Clara Smith, Married women, living at Sandhills, Great Houghton had taken out summonses charging each other with assault.

Mrs Smith said that on February 21, after some trouble about the children, Mrs Jones through a poker at her, hitting her on the leg. She also attempted to throw a coal rake.

Mr Rideal , who appeared for Mrs Jones, said it was Mrs Smith who started throwing things.

Both sides had half a dozen witnesses, and in the end the Bench dismissed both cases.
