Captured, But Escaped

Sergeant Herbert Coupe, of Thurnscoe Lane, Great Houghton, is son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. E. Careless, of Great Houghton.

His wife has been chosen as the Red Cross and Prisoners of War queen for the district.  They met in London when she was training at a military hospital.

Sergt. Coupe comes from Oldham. He is in the R.A., is a sergeant instructor, and has been abroad 2½ years.  He was taken prisoner on the capitulation of Belgium, and shortly afterwards escaped to Dunkirk.  He went to Persia later.
