Private Nicholas Wright of Middlecliffe, was killed in action on Sept. 4, having been in the army four years, and been twice wounded.

Prior to enlistment he was employed at Houghton Main.

Lieut. F. S. Bale writes:—” Your husband was a stretcher bearer in my platoon and greatly admired by all for his bravery -in attending the wounded under fire. His was a fine example of courage and bravery and he is greatly missed by all in the platoon. I have always found him a reliable soldier and had great confidence in him. Please accept the sincere sympathies of the, platoon and myself in your sad bereavement.
