The Drunken List
Richard Roper, collier, residing at Great Houghton, was charged with being drunk and disorderly at Thurnscoe on the fourth inst.
PC Dobson through the case, remarking that he made to speak to him several times, and ultimately had to lock him up.
Defendant pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay a fine of 20s, including costs.
Every Chambers, Tom Fletcher, Mexborough, was summoned for a similar offence, committee on Bank Street, Mexborough on the eighth inst.
Defendant pleaded not guilty.
PC Windsor stated that he saw defendant in a very drunken state on the day named. He was cursing and swearing and shouting at the top of his voice. Witness spoke to him and he replied “What have you got to do with it, mind your own b—-business.” Witness told him he should report him. A man then came up and took him home.
PC Barton and Inspector Barrett corroborated the statement of witness, remarking that the same at the time stated and he was in a very drunken state, and being led away by another man.
Defendant denied the offence.
Fined 25s, including costs.
