Mr. W. Maiden (Gt. Houghton) and Miss B. Rushforth (Darfield).

Miss Betty E. Rushforth, youngest daughter of Mrs. George Rushforth, and the late Mr. Rushforth, of Snape Hill Road, Darfield, was married at the Parish Church, Darfield, on Saturday, to Mr. Walter Bladen, fourth son of Mr. and Mrs. T. Bladen, Rotherham Road, Great Houghton.

The bride is a member of the teaching staff of Shrogg’s Head Infants’ School, and was a former Sunday School teacher, and the bridegroom is a member of the Shipcroft United football team.

Given away by her brother, Mr. S. Rushforth, the bride wore a period gown of ivory taffeta with a medici collar and a long sash draped to form a bustle. She wore a silver Juliet cap and silver shoes, and a long fine tulle veil which cascaded to form a long train. She also wore pearl stud earrings and carried pink carnations, gifts of the bridegroom.

A matron of honour and five bridesmaids were in attendance. They were Mrs J Green’how, who wore a black and white crêpe dress, matching hat, and shoulder spray of pink carnations; and Judith Smith, Constance Bladen, Margaret Bladen and Patricia Bladen, wearing Margaret Rose taffeta gown with matching halos of roads and silver and carrying roles muffs. Barbara Bladen wore white silk taffeta.

Mr T Immison was best man, Mr Jack Bladen groomsman, and Mr Jack Owen and Frank Gaskell were ushers.

This included a gold typing from the bright bridegroom, from bridegroom to bridesmaid gold bracelets. The staff of Shroggs Head school sent a cream supper cloth.
