The Mitchell Main Company supply Wombwell UDC with coal gas and the contract for domestic and industrial purposes in Wombwell, Darfield and Great Houghton and recently the informed local authority the ability to supply greater volume.

Another indication of increased industrial activity at Wombwell is tapping onto the Beamshaw seam at Darfield Main. At present the company are driving a drift to it.
