Empire Day

Empire they was suitably recognised by the local schools on Tuesday.

Many of the children wore a Daisy as an Empire Day emblem.

In the Council School, special singing, included Kipling’s “recessional” and Blake’s “Jerusalem,” was rendered

Philip Alison recited “the Empire Daisy,” and an address was given by headmaster on the extent, resources and the responsibilities of the Empire.

The infant school was daintily decorated with flags, and the work in drawing, singing and other subjects dealt in simple fashion with patriotic emblems.
