Large Stone Kills Miner

George Eyre (26), miner of Elliott’s Terrace, New Scarborough, Wombwell, died in Barnsley Beckett Hospital yesterday, following injuries he received from as large stone falling on him on Tuesday at the Houghton Main Colliery.

John Millington, was working with him and Joseph Bowman, a deputy, went to his assistance and extricated him, but his skull was fractured.
