Middlecliffe Baby Killed
Road Accident Victim Buried At Thurnscoe

The little community of Middlecliffe, Little Houghton, was saddened when on Wednesday evening of last week a 22-months-old child Susan Grinhuff, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Grinihuff, of 65, Windsor Crescent, Middlecliffe, while playing near her home on a tricycle, was killed in an accident with a van.

Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Grinhuff, have one other child, a little boy aged 4A years. Mr. Grinhuff works at Dearne Valley Colliery. His wife is 27 years of age.

An inquest on the baby, opened at Darfield on Saturday was adjourned to a date not yet fixed.

Later in the day flowers and wreaths began to pour in to the Grinhuff home.

They were arranged on the lawn in front of the house, and almost filled it. Everybody around had loved baby Susan, who was always laughing and was very sharp for her age.

From the children in the area was an ornamental vase, and they also took bunches of flowers. A wreath was sent by the neighbours, and there was one from Mr. Gifford, of Mexborough, driver of the van. The funeral took rlace at Thurnscoe Cemetery on Saturday, after a service at St Helen’s Church.
