New Invention for Safer Shunting

Mr. Lucas Butterworth, a mine worker, of Sandhills, Great Houghton, near Barnsley, has invented a device which, is believed, will facilitate and render safer shunting operations on railways.

The device consists automatic coupling and uncoupling arrangement. It is manipulated by hand from the corner of the waggon.

It has already been inspected by official of a railway company.
