France “A Funny Place”

The parents of John Dallamore, Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Dallamore, of Edward Street. Great Houghton, had never seen their son for nearly five years, until he walked in to spend his leave with them in the New Year.

Five years ago he was sent from the Employment Exchange to London to work as a cabinet maker. About four years ago he joined the Forces, and for some time was stationed in Surrey. Before going to France he paid his parents a flying visit. He loves Army life, but in a letter home. describes France as “a funny place.”

He asks for books, papers, and chocolates, to be sent out, and also the “South Yorkshire Times.”
