Soldier – Haddock, Thomas – Army Poet

Thomas Haddock (26), of New Street, Sandhill. Great Houghton, who is attached to the Highland Light Infantry, spends some of his spare time in the Army writing poetry, some of which is anything but nattering to Hitler.

In a poem of about fifty lines sent to his wife this week, bis chief theme is Russia and Germany. He concludes his verses with “But cheer up mothers, wives as well, This Hitler chap is bound for H—.” Prior to enlistment twelve months ago, Pte. Haddock worked at the by-product plant at Houghton Main.
