News reached the parents of Robert Lister, of 20, Manor Terrace, Great Houghton, last week, that their son had been killed in action in the Middle East during March.

Bob Lister, a member of a well-known Great Houghton family, joined up 14 months ago. He went abroad in August, and was 22. Prior to enlistment he worked with his father in the building trade and was an old boy of Wath Grammar School.

For several seasons he assisted Houghton cricket team, of which his brother was secretary. He had many friends in the Houghton district.

Bob has a brother serving in the RA.F.
