South Yorkshire Collieries and the Hull Coal Trade

The following return shows the quantity of coal sent from the largest South Yorkshire collieries during the months of October in 1891 in 1892.

The entire country of Yorkshire coal sent to Hull last month was 203,872 tons, against 226,384 tons in the corresponding month of 1891, or a decrease of 22,512 tons.

For the first time Aldwarke Main Colliery Company heads the list of collieries.

Denaby Main which ranks second, is only accredited with 12,616 tons, which shows a falling off of nearly 6,800 tons compared with last year, and an increase of close upon 1,500 tons compared with what was sent in September last. The firm has sent about 19,000 tons less during the 10 months than it forwarded last year.

Manvers Main is third, having sent 12,096 tons, an increase of about 400 tons on last year’s trade, and a falling off of 700 tons compared with what was sent in September.
