“Well,” said the hostess to the distinguished general who had been allotted her niece as a dinner companion, “how did dear Dorothy behave?”

“Oh,” said the gallant solder, “she was very charming”, And what a delightful sense of humour!  When I told her that my grandfather fell at Waterloo, she said “Indeed! Which Platform?”

“The silly child!” said the fond aunt, indulgently, “as if it mattered which platform!”
