The marriage took place on Saturday at Darfield Parish Church of Miss Myra Sylvia Powell, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Powell, 4, John Street, Great Houghton, to Mr. John Cartlidge Arkley, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Arkley, of Thurnscoe, and who resided with his grandfather. Mr. R. Cartlidge, at Sunnyside Bungalow, Thurnscoe.

Given away by her father, the bride wore a gown of ivory cloque with satin ruchings, and Medici collar. Her veil, lent by Mrs. Gibbs, of Darfield, was attached to a halo of orange blossoms, and she carried red roses. Attending her were Miss Doreen Powell and Miss Sadie Street, who wore roval blue marocain and organdie head-dresses of leaves and flowers to tone. They carried white carnations.

Miss Miriam Harwood and Miss Iris Haynes wore white organdie picture dresses with blue trimmings and white organdie Dresden hats with blue ribbon trimmings. They also carried anemones. Mr. D. Hope was best man and Mr. G. Noton was groomsman.

Patricia Haines presented the bride with a horseshoe. The bridegroom presented the bride with a gold cross and chain, and the bridesmaids with gold brooches and war saving stamps.
