Great interest was displayed in the Little Houghton district on Saturday in the marriage of members of two well known families, at Darfield Wesley Chapel, by the Rev. J. Wainwright Utley, of Blackburn, who christened the bride. He was assisted by the Rev. S. Gordon. of Barnsley.

The bride was Miss Olive Taylor, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Taylor, of Park View, Little Houghton. Her father is manager of Houghton Main Colliery. The bridegroom, Mr. Daniel Joseph Skidmore is the only son of Mr. and Mrs. George Skidmore, of Manor House, Little Houghton. He was recently appointed under-manager of Gedling Colliery, near Nottingham.

The service was choral, special music being played on the organ by Mr. Stewart White. Given away by her father, the bride wore an ice blue crepe satin dress and bolero. Her model hat was in a fuchsia shade of silk velvet, the crown of which was swathed in fuchsia shaded chiffon and fell in a short veil at the back. Her shoes were in a fuchsia shade and die carried white roses. She wore a string of pearls.

The bridesmaid was Miss Eileen Collins. She wore a dress of dark fuchsia chiffon, with frilled lace sleeves and lace trimmings on the bodice. Her headdress was composed of a flat posy of flowers attached to a velvet bandeau, and she carried cream Mr. Arthur Lines, of London, was best man.

The bride’s mother had chosen a two-piece of lime green crepe, with Italian quilting trimmings, a model hat of n—-r bankok, with a fall of brown net, and n—-r suede shoes. She wore a shoulder spray of apricot roses.

Mrs. Skidmore wore a blue twopiece with a matching hat, and a shoulder spray of cream roses. The bride was presented with a silver horseshoe by Eileen Worthington, daughter of the manager of Dearne Valley Colliery. Eileen wore a dress of shell pink georgette.

Mr. and Mrs. Taylor entertained their guests at Park View. Later. Mr. and Mrs. Skidmore left for St. Anne’s, the bride travelling in a lavender blue wool georgette two-piece with fox fur collar, and a navy blue hat with floral trimmings, and navy accessories.

Among the gifts, which included many from colliery officials, was a canteen of cutlery from the staff at Bestwood Colliery. The bride presented the bridegroom with engraved silver backed brushes, and the bridegroom presented the bride with a gold wristlet watch. The bridegroom presented the bridesmaid with a gold bracelet, and Eileen Worthington with a silver serviette ring.
