“I ought to have had more sense,” was the remark made by William Watts, pony driver, Great Houghton, when told by P.c. Wood that he would be reported for depositing litter on the highway.
The constable said that after eating fish and chips defendant threw the paper into the road. There was a refuse tip only five yards away.
Defendant was ordered to pay costs.
Defective Tyres.
At Barnsley on Wednesday George Davies, motor driver, Great Houghton, was fined 10s. for driving a motor lorry with defective tyres at Brierley.
George White, ’bus proprietor, Great Houghton, was fined 10s. for permitting the offence.
P.c. Dewhurst said that when spoken to about it White replied they had been too busy to change the tyres.
Davies was fined a further 10s. for driving without a licence.
